Classic Stripes for Date Night

Top: Thrifted, Skirt: Langford Market, Heels: Lulu's
Hey everyone, I hope you all had a Happy 4th! My family threw a huge party and we spent the night at my parents' house dancing on the patio to a dj playing all of our favorite music. good times :) This is another date night outfit...seriously these nights are my favorite. I love taking some time out of the middle of the week to be just us two and forget about our hectic schedules for just awhile. Oh and dressing up is definitely a plus. I've talked about my love for stripes before but surprisingly I've never had just a simple classic stripe tee. I finally thrifted this one about a two weeks ago...it's a rotating favorite.

Jean Love

Top: Express, Jeans: PacSun, Heels: Nine West, Necklace: Rue 21, Clutch: Jenny Packham
I used to have a favorite pair of jeans that unfortunately my thighs rubbed a hole into. I was really sad about it because let's be honest, it takes a lot for me to like a pair of jeans. Luckily this past weekend, I found a pair that I'm really loving. I pretty much have been cheating on my skirts and dresses with these since Saturday and I'm actually looking forward to wearing them to work on Thursday. What!?! Yeah. I just said that.

Tuesday Three Way // S'mores

Over the weekend, we invited the family over to hang out. Chris really wanted to bbq...and I never say no to that! He also built me a small fire to make s'mores...they are one a my favorite summer time treats. What's not to love about chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers?? Well, here are a few more way to enjoy them even more.
For all you peanut butter lovers like me, this one is for you. Switch out the Hershey's chocolate for a Reese's peanut butter cup and you can thank me later...they are so good.
Strawberries and chocolate have always been one of my favorite combinations, so it only should have been a no brainer to try this out s'mores style. Yum, yum, yum and the strawberry is actually quite refreshing which is a nice change to a usual sweet s'more.
Put all the usual s'more goodness between chocolate chip cookies and have the ultimate sweet treat.
Do you have any fun combinations that we need to try at our next bbq??

A Cake for the 4th of July

My family likes to get festive when it comes to holidays, most of the time we go over the top. lol which I like to consider a good thing. For the last few days I've been trying to think of what I could take to our family get together for the 4th of July. Then it hit me, my mom used to make this strawberry cake all the time when I was a kid. Since I wanted to go with the theme, I tried it out with a white cake and dyed it blue. Turns out, it's just as good.
All you need to do is add some blue food coloring to a white cake mix (I used a store bought one but if you can make it from scratch, then you go girl! One day, I'll be right there with you) For the frosting, add about 4 teaspoons of tropical punch kool-aid to one container of cool whip. Mix that together, frost the cake, and add sliced strawberries on top. That simple. And is everyone will love this.
Do you have any favorite sweets for the 4th of July?
