I'm a Royal Witch

This is how we like to get spooky around here...fun drinks and sweets :) Surprisingly this year nobody threw a huge party as expected. There's usually about 3 different kinds of Halloween parties from my family but this year I guess everyone decided to keep it low. I've only dressed up for my mother's witches convention party this year, which are where's these pics are from. Today at work I'll be wearing my lace cat ears and heading to my sister's house this afternoon to hand out candy and watch a scary movie. She lives in a sub-division so I'm pretty excited to see all the kids in their costumes...I've never handed out candy before! What does your night look like?
Happy Halloween!!!

Mini Twist Buns Tutorial

Slowly I'm starting to find ways to style my hair even with it being short. I like the look of three mini buns because it looks like great even if gets a bit messy, which works for my layers. Oh and anything that is mini is just cute right? Have fun with this hairstyle by adding a braid to the front or using fun hair clips with it.
1. Part your hair.
2. Twist strand
3. Make a small bun with strand and bobby pin down.
Repeat for 2 more mini buns
4. Pull down a few hairs to frame face.
All done!

Monday Morning Comes So Fast

Jacket: Marshalls, Blouse: JC Penney, Pants: Ann Taylor, Heels: Image, Bag: Marshalls
This weekend was all a bit of a whirlwind. Friday was spent traveling 4 hours over and 4 hours back to see my brother-in-law retire from the military. Although it was a long day of driving, it was completely worth it to be there supporting his accomplishment and honoring him for the 22 years of service he has given to our country. My sister asked me to photos while we were there, which was fun because it's been awhile since I've been behind the camera. I guess I was so busy taking photos of everyone else that I never managed to get a pic of what I was wearing that day. This outfit is actually from Saturday, something I wore while running errands with Chris all day. Oh another highlight of the weekend was that yesterday Chris and I finally got caught up on the Walking Dead! Do any of you watch the show? How was your weekend?

DIY//Lace Cat Ears

Every year my mother throws a "Witches Convention" party to celebrate Halloween. All the girls in my family...my mom, grandma, aunts, cousins, sisters, and nieces all dress up either like a witch or black cat. We spend the entire evening talking, having a halloween themed dinner with a few drinks, and telling scary stories. It's been a fun party to look forward to every year. Most of the time I dress up like a black cat because hello! I'm a cat lady lol. This year I decided to try some lace cat ears.
Supplies: Headband, black lace, scissors, wire (mine are 5 inches long), glue gun, black nail polish, & felts (not pictured)
 1. Take a piece of wire and shape into the form of an ear.
 3. Layer: Wire, lace, and wire. Put dots of glue in certain spots to glue all the pieces together.
 4. Trim the lace.
 5. Glue and wrap the felt around the ends of your cat ear wire pieces to attach to the headband.
 6. Use the black polish to paint the wires black and cover up any dried glue.
All done :) Hope you get to try this if you need something cute for a party this weekend.

Note to Self

Over the weekend I stumbled across this quote and it really sat with me. I had always wished that I lived in California. That if I had, my life would be more amazing. I would have my dream job, do all the things I ever wanted to do.  Well it's been 5 years since I've been to California and I've finally come around to open my eyes and see that I can find complete happiness here. All I need to do is let myself bloom, bloom in Texas...and if any of you have ever felt like me, there's no need to wait. You can bloom exactly where you are.

Simple Bobby Pin Hair Tutorial

Since I've cut my hair it's been extremely hard for me to do different hairstyles...especially with having layers. I haven't had my hair this short since about 6 years ago! Lately I've been using this tutorial but I recently straightened my hair and wanted a more dressed up look...you know something with a bit of effort. And yes, those do happen to be glitter bobbies in my hair. I used this diy concept to get the glitter look.
1. Part your hair.
2. Separate the section that will be pinned and pull back the rest.
yay! glitter bobbies!
3. Place bobby pins at an upwards angle...you can let your down here.
4. Place bobby pins at a downwards angle...forming an "x"
All done :)

Just a Little Bird and Me

Blouse: Gifted, Shorts: Langford Market, Bag: Marshalls, Sweater: Thrifted F21
Even though most of this weekend was gloomy and full of rain I still had a good weekend. Chris and I went to our favorite pizza place Friday night and I had a crafting day with my bridesmaids Saturday. It's nice to have things fall into place with the wedding details. We've been working on diy projects and it's fun to see the creative ideas in our head come to life.  It's been a lot of hard work but I know it will be worth it in the end.

DIY//Makeover Your Tights

I was going through some of the things in my closet, I came across a few pair of tights that had holes and runs in them. I usually mess up a few pairs during the season. Last year I ruined a pair of black sheers, these polka dots ones, and some star print ones I messed up the while putting them on for the first time. I've always wanted to try the sock and heels thing so I figured why the heck not...lets give this a try.
1. Cut Tights
2. Try on and shorten to length you want.
I just rolled mine at the top. I like that it gives it a bit of contrast from the sheer part of the tights.

That's What Scar Said

Tee: PacSun, Skirt: F21, Heels: Thrifted
We all know I'm cat lady, so when I saw this crop top I had to have it. Besides, I like having tees with cute sayings. The mornings have been cool followed by hot days so it's easy to get away with wearing crop tops and high low skirts. While I love autumn, it's always hard for me to let go of summer. Which I guess kind of works out for me...I still need time to go shopping for fall necessities like tights, boots, and sweaters. What's on your fall shopping list?

Day to Night//Military Jacket

Every year I see this style of a military jacket and every year I never get one. But this year, I'm determined to add that beautiful olive green to my closet. Until it actually does become a part of my wardrobe, this is how I'm dreaming of taking it from day to night.

Day
1. A pink ice cream cone tee just lets the world know that you're the kind of girl that likes to have fun.
2. My go to style for jeans, skinny and dark.
3. I always love a good nude heel, textured caps are just a bonus.

Night
1. Dainty polka dots...simple and sweet.
2. Add a little drama with statement jewels, let your inner royal come out.
3. Keep things classy with pointed black heels.
4. Dreamy tulle skirts dress up anything. Feel fancy all night long in a skirt like this.

Which look would you wear? Day? Night? or Both?

Back in Boots

Blouse: F21, Shorts: Thrifted, Tights: Rue 21, Boots: Charlotte Russe
Last week we went to go see Fall Out Boy and they put on an amazing show. I was singing all night long and dancing...there's always lots of dancing from me at concerts lol. We had just seen them about a month before and they didn't let us down and gave an even better show this time around. My concert style over the years hasn't changed much. I'm back in these boots...my favorite. I've had them for a few years now and can't seem to part with them. You will probably be seeing them a lot more now that fall is here :)

Life Lately: Arlington Trip

Last year Chris and I went to our first Texas Rangers game together. I've always been the cheerleader kind of girl when it comes to sports and was really excited when Chris asked if I wanted to go to Arlington again this year. Last year it rained the entire time. This year we had better luck and just had a a few sprinkles here and there but nothing to complain about. Our whole trip was based around the games so other than cheer on our favorite team, we just enjoyed being together, relaxed a lot, and ate really good food. An amazing trip if you ask me.
1. Winners!!!
2. Our first game for the weekend, we bought all you can eat tickets. This was my first round...that I ate all by myself...and then Chris and I shared nachos :)
3. In our Ranger gear...naturally I had to get the hat with silver sequins.
4. Rangers out on the field...this was our view from the second game.
5. Poolside view at the hotel.
6. Chris took me shopping. My guy sure does know how to keep a girl happy. I took this dress home with me.
7. Pic after a Ranger win.
8. Saturday's game was suppose to be at night but at the last minute was moved to the day. A few cold ones were necessary to keep cool in the heat.
9. Fireworks after Friday nights game. I know you can't really see him, but that's my favorite player (Ian Kinsler) up on the screen there.
10. Drinks to celebrate another win and the end of another great day.

See a few pics from last year here
